There are so many companies out there that need to check up on the current state of their business insurance policies. It is a really easy thing to scoot past insurance by every means possble – that’s how we all tend to think of that. Insurance can be a complicated subject, especially when when you know that several types of insurance might be needed. Take public liability – this ensures that if you or your employee injures someone or their property, you are covered if they take a claim for compensation out against you. There is also profesional indemnity insurance too, that is a more recent type of cover in terms of business insurance and covers claims from your client if they lose money because the advice or services you offered were bad choices or if you designed something for them professionally tha actually didn’t work or harmed their business. Of course, you may be a self employed worker and all thoughts of employees insurance probably baffles you. However, the self employed need to be insured against offering poor service or advice just as much as any company would. Also some professional bodies insist on their members holding particular forms of indemnity and other insurance – especially if the member is going to hold sensitive information on a data base. Any sniff of negligence on the part of a company or service provider will be damaging all round and protection against a claim for such is essential these days. The same way that a self employed earner may need to take out an income replacement policy which covers paying a tax free monthly income whilst they are unable to work due to say an illness or injury, or suffer a reduction in their pay for a significant period. Critical illness cover is slighty different here and provides for certain specific illnesses or medical conditions reaching a prolonged severity. In this case the cover will provide a tax free lump sum which can be used for a specific issue such as paying off the family mortgage or paying towards private medical treatment to help them recover; it could also be used to simply cover household bills for as period of recovery. Of course, private medical insurance has been available to employers and self employed folk for decades and can provide an absolute boon when something serious does arise medically – in these days of our national health service not meeting it’s targets, every delay in treatment costs a company money.
